Description :

Introduction of Services Offered at Barez Tire Testing Track
Barez Proving Ground as one of the first of its kind throughout the nation, has been constructed in an area of 240 acres in northeast of Kerman Province with the following specifications: Elevation – Northing: 3328586 mN, Easting: 504465 mE, Zone: 40R with 1830 m in accordance with international standards.
Primary planning of this track was initiated based on Continental Corporation’s most modern test course located in Contidrom, Germany and pursuant to the consultation put fort by the experts of the same company with the objective of carrying out all performance tests at this very location. However, following the conclusion of a multilateral contract with a Spanish company, planning and construction of the track was perceived as more expansive and technical, whereby running entire range of tire performance tests as well as automobile IDIADA tests based on the most recent global standards in different phases were considered critically. The center which is at the onset of conducting phase one of testing, intends to fully carry out a complete line of technical tests concerning the tire and automotive industries in conjunction with intra and extra laboratory safety and performance tests in order to take a significant step towards the promotion of the quality of domestic products as well as attempting to eliminate the scientific and technical interdependency of the industry of the country on non-native sources.
Planning, constructing and equipping the track in the divisions of testing routes, calibration equipment and devices, workshops and specialized laboratories, technical know-how and the required workforce have been projected in two separate phases. Moreover, necessary preparations have been mplemented to plan the development phase by carefully considering the requirements of the industry today.
Currently, Phase One of the testing track is ready for exploitation and provision of calibration and testing services according to the following specifications:

1- Testing Tracks:
This phase includes four TRACKS:
- The Straight Handling Track
- The Braking Track
- The Comfort Track
- The Lane One of the Speed Track

The Straight Handling Track:
This road is situated on the southern flank of the Speed Track and it is approximately 700m long and 32m wide. The surface of the track is paved with perfectly smooth asphalt and has a transverse gradient of 1% with no longitudinal gradient. This track includes eight individual lanes and safety barriers have been installed on the sides in order to control the vehicle during straight handling tests. The track is also equipped with guardrails and impact barriers running down its entire length. Moreover, to have the efficiency of the track increased and also to be able to conduct different maneuvers and run high speed tests, a part of the track with a length of 150m a flat sandy shoulder with a depth of 15m has been considered which can assist in reducing vehicle speed and bringing the vehicle under control in critical situations. Due to the possibility of a vehicle entering this track from the Speed Track, the initial speed at the start point of the track is 90km/hr. which can be increased based on the type of test as the vehicle accelerates down the track.

The Braking Track:
This particular track is comprised of three areas of acceleration, sustainability and braking. The track also includes three separate braking lanes with different µ splits, a water navigation straight testing track and a µ split dual test track. All tracks are equipped with automatic water sprinklers to run tests pertinent to a wet ambient and a water collection and recycling system. In order to enhance safety and make it possible to carry out high speed testing, measures such as guardrails and impact barriers have been installed along the entire length of the track in accordance with accepted safety standards. Furthermore, the track includes a completely separate and secure return lane as well as two U-turns at different distances so as to prevent the likelihood of vehicle interference during tests.

The Comfort Track:
The Comfort Track is situated on the northern flank of the testing field and has several tracks with different types of surfaces. Bumps and potholes similar to what may be seen on inner-city streets or inter-city roads have also been considered along with calibration equipment and devices to measure the level of suspension and tire comfort when a vehicle hits such bumps and potholes under various speeds. The track also has an acceleration road with an NVH length to estimate the vehicle performance features along the entire frequency range of 160m and just like the other tracks, safety and control measure have been considered critically in order to reduce vehicle speed. There is also a separate return lane to ensure an increase in safety ratio and the track is equipped with guardrails and impact barriers at various intersecting points with other tracks.

High Speed Track:
The High Speed Track is oval-shaped with three separate lanes. The maximum allowable speed for the first, second and third lanes are 90km/hr., 150km/hr. and 210km/hr., respectively all of which can be attained without imposition of lateral forces. This oval-shaped track includes has two straight lanes with the length of 700m on its northern and southern flanks for running high speed straight tests and walls with a 58 degree slope and a height of eight meters to increase the rate of speed and the safety ratio along the entire length of the track. Again, all other safety measures such as guardrails and impact barriers have been considered here too in order to maintain driving safety under high speeds. After the completion of Phase One of operations, only the first lane can be utilized and the paving of the second and the third lanes will be carried out and completed during the Phase Two of operations.

2 - Testing and Measurement Equipment:
In order to conform with requirements of the consultation firm and the grantor of the technology to equip the testing field with the most up-to-date and precise equipment, the following measures have been implemented: IDIADA from reputable European sources, approved equipment by manufacturers of speed measurement tools and devices, brake pedal sensors, control and power transmitter sensors, test initiation detection sensors, fuel measurement systems, various types of indicators, data collection and transmission and other accessories from Germany, RMS noise testing equipment from Germany, measurement and power transmitter devices as well as steering wheel angles from KISTLER Company – England and VBOX – Italy, speed, acceleration and position and vehicle rotation control equipment from SCS Company.

3- Technical Know-How:
Spain has the largest independent proving ground throughout Europe. Acquisition of IDIADA standards of technical knowledge by this company through conducting tests for prominent global auto manufacturers and accumulation of years of experience by the technical team of the company, enable it to offer a wide range of vehicle performance tests and spare parts. The available technical knowledge including testing methods and assessment of existing vehicle testing schemes in conjunction with auto spare parts and tires has been taught to Barez Company Proving Ground experts.

4- Training a Specialized Team of Human Resources:
One of the most crucial aspects of conducting auto performance tests are test drivers and experts. Running sensory and numerical tests require proficiency in driving, execution of all performance maneuvers and vehicle control capability under all critical conditions. Moreover, mastering and understanding vehicle aerodynamics and reactions under all types of conditions in conjunction to the proper application of testing equipment and obtaining accurate technical data from performance tests requires the provision of specialized training for the company personnel and experts. Accordingly, all Barez Company drivers and experts are required to pass various courses on driving under different climatic conditions, conduct performance tests, install and utilize testing equipment, obtain and collect data and analyze and assess vehicle performance levels and as result possess the IDIADA Certificate for carrying out tests in the proving ground.

5- Workshops:
There are several fully-equipped workshops situated at various points across the proving ground which are responsible for offering services such as fitting test vehicles with measurement devices and equipment and also running tests on vehicle and tire control and safety standards. Moreover, in future operation phases of the proving ground, additional workshops will be set up to accommodate the extra-organizational clients who prefer to conduct their own tests on vehicles and other products. These workshops will be ready to offer their separate line of services for light and heavy vehicles upon the completion of Phase Two of operations. Furthermore, specialized laboratories capable of catering to the needs and requirements of the tire industry have been projected for Phase Two. These laboratories will be fully-equipped with tests and measurement to accommodate the entire range of intra and extra laboratory safety tests related to performance, design and tire improvements required by the tire industry.

6- Offered Services:
At the present and upon the completion of Phase One of Barez Company’s Proving Ground, the following performance testing services for vehicles, tires and relevant accessories required for passenger cars, pickup trucks, buses and heavy trucks are being offered:
- Straight handling
- Ride comfort
-Wet and dry braking
- Fuel Consumption
- Pass by noise
